I wasn’t much of a Beatles fan back when I was a Boy Scout, and to this day, I still blame it on classic rock radio. This was in the mid 1990s, and I think the only Beatles song I ever heard was the first track on Abbey Road. You could hear “Come Together” at 9:30 in the morning, at 3:50 in the afternoon, and again at 10:25 PM. It was like this day after day after day, and every time I head the song it made me want to walk out into busy rush hour traffic.
Consequently, it took me a long time to get turned onto the Beatles, and it was even longer before I learned that both Paul McCartney and John Lennon were Boy Scouts in their youths. I haven’t read anywhere that they made Eagle Scout, but I don’t think that really matters much.
